Photos From Our Michigan Trip - Wall Cloud at the Virginia-North Carolina Border

Driving home from Michigan on Sunday (7/5) was mostly uneventful until, dun, dun, dunnnnn.

The mass flooding and torrential rain we had to drive through the West Virginia and Virginia mountains on I-77.  It really came down to the point the car was easily spinning it's tires (hydroplaning) with very little effort. Felt very much like driving through the winter months except it was July. This added several hours to our trip home.

As we were coming up to the North Carolina border we saw this wall cloud in the valley below. The thunderstorms were pretty violent.

Luckily things cleared up as we drove closer to Raleigh, NC.  Though I have to admit, what ever adrenaline I had left was spent after our 18 hour trip.

Maybe next time we will fly to Michigan instead of drive...
