I really think the folks at Munzee are getting the right idea for making their game continuously more interesting and fun to play. This just came from their newsletter about the new Gold Rush feature:
Munzee GOLD RUSH
This weekend (9/17/11) we will be launching a brand new gameplay element called Munzee Gold Rush. This is our version of rewarding a player for "First to Capture". We are going to be randomly converting existing deployed munzees to a piece of gold and the first person to capture these munzees will be rewarded 50 points. Once they are captured they will then return to their normal munzee state.
While in Gold status, players who have captured the munzee before will be able to capture it again as long as you aren't the creator of the munzee. Munzee Gold will be visible on the maps in the apps (iPhone and Android), the "Hunt" list view on the apps and on the map featured on the website.
Will you be fast enough to capture some gold? For more details, visit our forum topic on Munzee Gold Rush.
Another cool incentive to give this QR Code based game a try.. FTF hounds unite. Thar's gold in them thar hills..
