We took a whole bunch of geocachers at a recent Flash Mob geocaching event and tested over 30 GPSr units to see how accurate they would be. The results were surprising and below is the tallied data.
Below shows the closest findings, which GPSr Unit and Model as they where found. As you can see there was everything from GPSr handhelds, smart phones and car units.

So what is the range of determining GZ?? Sorry I could not make it, Stuck in Nags Head! :)

For this experiment I was much more interested in the spread of flags and what GPS/Smartphone did what.
Ground Zero was determined when you had zero distance, and zero feet variance on the GPS. We had several geocachers who actually accomplished this. So it was a good day to test.
Very very interesting. Especially the bottom 3 GPS devices.
This is a very interesting experiment. What would be better and give a more useful result would be to have more devices, and to be tested under tree cover or cloudy conditions.
Personally I use an HTC Desire 'phone and internet with C:Geo. I don't bother with co-ordinates, but a Google satellite map and C:Geo give me marks of where I am and where the cache is.
Take a look at surrounding buildings, and when it all lines up, just bend down and pick up the cache.
