Geocachers, Tupperware Can Be Used For Food!

Awesome, found a vendor at a charity event we are attending. She was selling Tupperware so I had to check it out. Turns out it can be used to store food!

Also found out that the originator of Tupperware worked for DuPont and made the containers to simulate how paint cans seal. Fun how you can learn the coolest things.

Sigh, Last Good Lunch Hour Of Fall?

The weather today in North Carolina can only be stated as sparkling. It is absolutely gorgeous, the last colors of fall are still on the trees. There's just a slight breeze and the temps are perfect. I had only a few minutes to find something before I had to go to back to work. So this Munzee will just have to do.

Starting tomorrow the temps go down into the 40s for highs and already I am NOT looking forward to winter. So no better time for a quick grab.

Taking Things For Granite On International EarthCache Day 2014

If you are a geocacher you most likely knew that October 12th was International Earth Cache Day 2014. Where if you wanted to receive a digital customized souvenir you needed to go out and find yourself an Earth Geocache. Myself and wife Amy, The Headhardhatress had a fantastic time exploring an area we never would have known it was there unless looking for this geocache.

In the geocaching world an Earth Cache is a certain type of geocache that does not include a physical container to find. Instead you find a place that usually has some sort of geological significance to it. In our case it was the largest open deposit of exposed granite in North Carolina.

The area was breathtaking with its amazing sights and sounds. There was a football field size area of granite with a stream and mini waterfalls running through it. Tons of different colored mosses and other interesting things to explore as well.

Met up with Team ILM Cachers whilst we were just getting on site and they were kind enough to show us around. Then we found the information needed to send back to the cache owner and we were on our way but not until we had our fill of photos to take. Here are a few. Enjoy.

NCGO 9th Annual Fall Fling 2014

Wife Amy and I had a fantastic time at this years 9th Annual NCGO Fall Fling. This is a yearly event that I look forward to attending. Every year it is in a different place in North Carolina. This year it was Greensboro, NC.

The GeoSnippits Tent was once again a nice area to meet up with all of our fans, friends and introduce ourselves to new geocachers as well. We also had a cutout of the Michelin Man there for photo ops.

Removing Scratches From Point and Shoot Camera Lenses

Below is a close-up of my current favorite vLog, blogging, photo snapping, video shooting camera.

My Sony DSC-WX300 is a very versatile wide angle point and shoot camera with many amazing bells and whistles that fit all of my social network needs. It was perfect for me. Until I noticed the HUGE scratch on the lens. When I first noticed it at the WWFM 11 event my heart sank. It covered a deep crevice right across the center and about an inch long. It was so deep I could feel the depth with my finger nail. I thought it was ruined.

You may be saying to yourself, "Andy, I can't see any scratch anywhere?!?". That is the reason for this article. The scratch was removed almost instantly and I'm going to tell you how I did it.

Here is what you are going to need:

1 part 70% rubbing alcohol
20 parts water
1 MicroFiber cloth

To be honest, I didn't think this had a chance of working. The scratch was just too deep.

What Do You Need To Do:

Mix the 70% rubbing alcohol and water in a container
Dip a small section of the MicroFiber cloth in the solution
Gently rub the moist cloth over the scratch in small circular motions
In my case the scratch disappeared in seconds and with no effort.

It left so quickly I could easily say by magic. No trace of the scratch remains and the lens is like new.

Note I tried the same solution on the glass display on the back of the camera and it did nothing at all. The scratches remained. So this is for lens only.

I hope this gives you a very inexpensive fix for something that would cost a whole lot more if you took it into a repair shop.

Michelin has nearly 2,000 tire pressure gauges they’ve made into Trackables. They’re shaped like the iconic Michelin Man– the beloved icon of the tire maker who has been around more than 115 years himself.

This contest is photo driven.
