Snoball: Set Triggers to Donate to Non-Profit Charities

Jeffery Powers and Andy HeadHardHat Smith at CES2012 TPN.tv Booth

If you are a non-profit, this is a great way to get donations. People would log on to Snoball and integrate giving tp charities of your choice.

For instance, if you set a goal, you can donate to a cause. These triggers will act when something happens. For instance. I could say: I’ll donate $100 if my Twitter followers reach 1,000. When that happens, the trigger is tripped and your account will send the money.

This can work with a business – after so many Foursquare check-ins, a business could donate to their charity. There is also a cap, just in case the Snoball goes viral. You don’t want to break the bank.

There are over 1.6 million nonprofits to send donations to. These are 501C and 170C non-profits, as registered by the government. Start a Snoball, Share a Snoball and see the good.

For instance, there is a Snoball right now that when Jeremy Lin scores, someone is donating 5 cents to Garden of Dreams Foundation.

They are working on defined categories, but you can definitely search for local charities to give money to. There is no “random” option, but Snoball does feature charities that you could get behind.

This is all tax deductible. You can get a report at the end of the year who you gave money to.

Jeffrey Powers and Andy HeadHardHat Smith at TPN.tv Booth
We talk with Johannes Krisstenson at Ford talking about research at Ford. They are displaying some wonderful research information of what vehicles are coming in the future. My Ford Touch is one of those things.

We talk about the new Ford Fusion and how it shows some of those features. 100 MPGe, smart energi charge, and more. Pulling out of the driveway, the car is quiet – no emissions. We talk about missing the sound of the rev.

The input for research comes from not only a think tank, but also customers. Research and listening are two things that bring innovation of tomorrow in vehicles.

Listen to HeadHardHat on the Cache-A-Maniacs Podcast Show

I had such a fun filled day when I recently met up with Darryl (Darrylw4) and Drei (Firefly03) in Roseville, Michigan. Not only was I going to be able to interview these two wonderful podcast hosts for my
GeoSnippits show but they were going to interview me for their Cache-A-Maniacs podcast.

We had a great time setting up the video and sound for both shows which also allowed us to get to know each other better as well. Once the two interviews were complete we also were invited to the Geocaching Roseville Event where a lot of caching goodness, camaraderie and great food ensued.

I look forward to coming back to Michigan soon to do some serious geocaching with Darryl and Drei in the not too distant future.

So now, sit back and relax while listening to this ole HeadHardHat gab about himself in the Cache-A-Maniacs Podcast.

Note- After you click the link below just click the grey word Pod next to the title.

Thanks For The Interview Darcie Gudger

I had just the nicest talk with Darcie Gudger of the Denver Examiner this last Friday. The kind of pleasant conversation one would find when friends meet at a coffee house and you can just kick up your feet and talk.

This was the first time Darcie and I have been able to talk over the phone. I originally found out about her when she put one of my GeoSnippits videos into an article she had posted. Then shortly after that I watched her introduction into geocaching via Twitter. Yep she is a geocacher and out walking the trails of Colorado searching for tupperware in the woods just like the rest of us. It was fun to read as she progressed from geocache to geocache and we talked about the likes and dislikes of the game. I would talk about finds that I had recently found then she would talk about the trails in the back woods she had hiked and back and forth we gabbed.

One of the more interesting experiences actually happened to her earlier that same day. She had been walking the trails towards a rocky geocache ground zero when she almost stepped onto a rattlesnake. Quite a thrill for sure but she shrugged it off like a champ and said those encounters can be quite common. You just have to be careful. Hmmmm, sounds like something I would say in one of my videos. Oh yeah, that is what I say in my videos....

We talked some more and next thing I realized that a whole hour had just vaporized and it was getting late. Before we ended the conversation though I did have to chuckle a bit and I told Darcie straight out. "You're hooked on geocaching Darcie, I can tell it in your voice."

She laughed and said she knew but it's too late now.. Another welcomed into the obsession.

Darcie is a freelance writer, author and toddler tamer. You can see her articles online in papers like The Denver Examiner.
