The Great HOOHAA Travel Bug Race In Home Stretch

Hard to believe it will be one year this October 16th when nine brave travel bugs set out on a race that would take them to all corners of the globe. Some placed amazing amounts of miles under their belts while others not so much. A few seem to be missing and we have not heard from for a while. All travel bug racers to the end.

Below are the current standings for all of the HooHAA racers as of today. You can see all the information and the final conclusion this October 16th at the bottom right of my blog:

HooHaa Travel Bug Racer Just A Nut Back On The Road

Well I had pretty much written off my TB Racer "Just A Nut" in the HooHaa Travel Bug Race.

You see "Nut" was taken overseas and at the time I thought, "fantastic", then it could really chalk up some miles. How wrong I was. Sure currently has about 3500 miles under it's belt but it was dropped on the western shore of a western island from the western side of Scotland. Lets just say that this was the only geocache on this particular island and it was well, isolated. So there it sat, perfecting it's Scottish accent and learning about haggis. For seven months it waited to be liberated from it's geocaching tomb.

Then, a couple of days ago the lid opened and a geocacher by the name of Skihog found it and now is taking Nut to other places. Hopefully far away from this Isle.

More details to come once I find out where Just a Nut will land. The great thing is now at least it is on the move again. Stay Tuned...

HooHaa TB Race - Just A Nut Lands in Scotland

Well the finder who picked up my HooHaa TB Racer "Just A Nut" needed a wee bit of help getting him logged into the correct cache in Sollas, Scotland but we managed to get it done. Now with 3544 Miles under his belt and puts it firmly in THIRD PLACE. It looks like Nut will get a chance to rest from his long trip. You see the island that he is on has a grand total of two geocaches on it. There is another island just north east of it that has a bunch but I have no idea how long it is going to take for someone to come see this one.

So be sure to check the bottom right of this blog and keep up with the rest of the HooHaa TB racers.

HooHaa TB Race Cartoon - Kiss My Cache Finds Nirvana in Oregon

HooHaa TB Racer "Kiss My Cache Peace Luv and Travel Bugs!" has taken a rather lengthy trip (pun intended) to a rather unexpected place - Portland, Oregon. This apparently has not even slowed her down because she is on the move again to unknown places. For the moment we join her in a backpack that is holding an unusual herbal substance and we ain't talking oregano.

You can find all the HooHaa TB Race Cartoons just below all the race statistics on HHH's blog.

HooHaa TB Race Cartoon - Hick's World Gets Schooled

Hick's World has been sitting in the hands of a geocacher for months now.

Finally this weekend he was dropped in a geocache in California and has over 500 miles under it's belt. The interesting thing is that the cache it was placed in was constructed by 32 6th graders.

Oh what interesting experiences must be awaiting Hick's World...

HooHaa TB Race - A New Leader, A New Cartoon

Well the HooHaa TB Race is heating up. Which is great because most of the racers are freezing in the northern states. Today TB Racer Easy Flyer jumped to the lead with 8007.1 miles.

With Gunny's Electric Bug and GeoCats Racer not far behind plus rumors of Just A Nut on it's way to Europe. This HooHaa Travel Bug Race is starting to really take off.

HooHaa TB Racer Just A Nut Venturing "Across The Pond"

I really, really, really hope this is a good thing. I received an email from geocaching.com about my HooHaa TB Racer: Just A Nut and that it has just been picked up from it's frigid hidey hole somewhere in Maryland. At first I was greatly relieved because this particular cache was located next to Calvert Cliffs State Park, near Bertha, Maryland. The cache does not get visited all that much and when it was recently dropped off the last cacher before the last was from sometime in October.

"Great", I thought. It would most likely sit in it's frozen slumbers till spring. Now with the news that it was on the move again I was very pleased. Except for one little detail. The cacher that found it started.... today. Now it may be in very capable hands and I have nothing to worry about. The cacher's profile gives no information except that he or she really likes geocaching.

The log states "Wow..what a fun game...this will be taken across the pond...think I'll help this wee tike get a few miles...". So I am assuming they are not talking the Chesapeake Bay and actually in fact Europe. We shall see. The new geocacher used the word "wee" so maybe Scotland? Either way I know that "Nut" shall have a grand adventure and if it is indeed going overseas that it enjoys the trip.

HooHaa TB Race - The Little Cap That Could

Gunny's Electric Bug only had a smidgen over two miles to show it's efforts in the HooHaa TB Race. HeadHardHat had shown it as a host of different types of "caps" in many of the HooHaa Cartoons shown weekly and Gunny has taken it all in stride. (The photo above shows EB as a Stayples Easy Button)

Now Gunny has his moment to do some serious "Nanner-Nanner" to the rest of the Travel Bug Racers with it's latest move from Japan to TwentyNine Pines, California. This gives Electric Bug a grand total of 6517.7 miles and first place of the HooHaa race.

Congrats to Gunny and his missile based Electric Bug.

HooHaa TB Race - Easy Rider Takes The Lead In A Big Way!!

There's a new sheriff in town and he goes by the name of Easy Rider. TripCyclone's eagle based travel bug has landed in Hawaii. His current mileage is now 3848.3 miles and Easy Rider is quite happy to be in such a tropical place after just being in Missouri where they just had how many inches of snow?

You can follow all the HooHaa TB Racing stats in the bottom right of this blog.

JUST A NUT Back in the HooHaa TB Race and in 2nd Place!

The mystery is a sol-ved. Just A Nut a racer in the Great HooHaa TB Race was officially missing for several weeks now.

In my recent article Have You Seen This Nut??? a full investigation by the GeoPolice was undertaken. There were very little clues except for one lead. It turns out that the lead was good and Just A Nut has been found. In fact, the big lug has been placed in a cache near Crofton, Maryland. This gives Just A Nut 212 Miles and a firm second place in the race.

You can follow all the HooHaa Travel Bug Racers by watching our score board at the bottom of this blog.

HooHaa TB Race Cartoon - Week Seven - Just A Nut is Missing!

The HooHaa Travel Bug Racers received shocking news this week.

Just A Nut, a late bloomer in this race has officially gone missing. You can read all about it in this post here. In this week's cartoon Gunny's TB Electric Bug meets up with an old friend. The setting takes place in an ammo box somewhere in Japan.

You can visit all the weekly HooHaa Travel Bug Race Cartoons created by HeadHardHat found at the bottom right of his blog: GeoCache: I'm NOT Obsessed... Right?

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS NUT???

Just A Nut is MISSING.
(GeoPolice Photo used for identification)

The HooHaa Travel Bug Racer was off to a slow start in the Great HooHaa TB Race GeoChallenge but never failed to bust a nut. Even after many weeks of sitting at the starting line Nut passed the time with fellow TB Racer Gunny's Electric Bug. Their humorous banter that of epic slapdownmanship.

After regailing once again about being part of an actual racing car Nut decided to spend some time in the neighborhood Travel Bug Hotel in Oxford, North Carolina before trying once again to get on the road with the HooHaa Race. That was when everything apparently happened.

I found out about it after I received an email from a fellow geocacher who read about my travel bug racer not moving and wanted to take it to Pennsylvania. Much to his dismay the hexagonal traveller was no where to be found within the cache.

I visited the well known travel bug hotel and confirmed that Just A Nut was indeed gone. So since it was past the normal 48 hour wait period. We called in the authorities; the GeoPolice.

After a thorough investigation and about ten minutes of effort it was concluded that there is not enough evidence to conclude a conclusion.

Even with nearby witnesses who wish not to comment at this time (damn you SpongeBob) the authorities could only speculate the approximate location of Just A Nut before being taken.

The logbook was dry, well kept and even though many people had signed it, no clues to the disappearance had shown inside. There is though one lead of which the GeoPolice are following at this time but refuse to comment about.
I currently am at a total loss and can only hope that Just A Nut will be found soon. Was the travel bug muggled? TB Napped and to be held for ransom? Only time will tell, for now I can only hope it will be dropped soon... Into another cache that is...
Stay Tuned...

HooHaa TB Race Cartoon - Week Five

Yes the latest and greatest in the HooHaa TB Race Cartoon Series.

HooHaa TB Race Update: P.J.'s Quilt Covers Second Place

Well in a surprising change of pace our very own P.J. who came up with the HooHaa Travel Bug Race has now moved into second place. Apparently some action was required after recent rumors that the soft and cuddly "Quilt" just wasn't made of the right fluff. This left him in stitches and forced the move to sew up this race. We will have to wait a see if Quilt can continue to move it's fat quarters at a winning pace.

For all the information about the HooHaa TB Race including the latest standings, race cartoons and more, hurry on down to the bottom right of this blog.
